Keeping on top of everything can be a struggle. But being busy is no excuse for dropping down the beauty barometer. There are a few sure-fire tricks that will keep you looking fabulous even if you only have 2-3 minutes to spare…
Top 10 make-up tips
- Preparation is essential. Get into a routine that on quiet evenings you check your eyebrows for stray hairs and reshape if necessary. Apply a face mask if the skin is looking tired or dehydrated
- Once or twice weekly apply a layer of self tan to keep your skin golden throughout the party season. Buy an inexpensive tube of fake tan to intensify your tan at the last-minute if you are going bare-legged to an event or need to correct any streaking
- Don’t fret about getting a flawless finish to your make-up. If you use the right shade of foundation you needn’t worry about streaking. Use your fingers to apply if the clock is against you. The heat from your fingertips will help set the make-up
- Going out make sure the brows look defined by filling in where necessary with brow pencil or powder
- Layer your shadow, using 2 shades to make the eyes look sexy. Sweep the darker shade from the lash line up to the socket area and blend, blend, blend! Use your little finger to add a delicate touch of blush to the edge of the crease. This will gently soften any harsh lines and give a little warmth.
- Brown, charcoal or slate eyeshadows are eternally popular. Finish with a matching eye liner, smudge if desired.
- If your a little clumsy with shadows, take your powder puff and lay a heavy dose of powder across your cheekbones to catch any falling powder, when the make-up is done use a brush to sweep away the excess powder
- Get dramatic eyes in a flash by curling the lashes before applying mascara. Apply your mascara and wait 10 seconds for it to dry before adding a second coat to avoid clumped lashes.
- Since it is cold outside, blush looks really natural so make sure to apply a sheer dose of pink or peach colour to the apples of the cheeks. If you aren’t confident with a brush use a cotton ball to apply.
- Finish with a slick of lipstick to complete your look. If you want to ensure hours of colour apply a lip stain first to keep your colour locked in all night long. Try Benetint from Benefit, €33.50, a worthy investment as it also acts as a cheek colour. Plus, a tiny drop goes a really long way.
